Baviaans Lodge welcomes guests to a Wilderness Area that has World Heritage Site status. This is the main attraction of this quiet and remote destination. Relaxation and tranquility, eco activities as well as conservation motivated management are the cornerstones of this establishment. A true African wilderness of some 240,000 hectares on the doorstep of Port Elizabeth and the Garden Route can be experienced.
Baviaans Lodge offers 5 stone cottages with a total of 9 rooms, all supplied with linen, towels and a fireplace in each bedroom. Situated in this remote location, no electricity means lighting is supplied by traditional paraffin lamps and this gives the lodge its unique ambiance. Each bedroom has at least 1 double bed as well as a single bed for small children.
Situated in an indigenous tree filled valley, in the heart of the Kouga Mountains, the lodge is built from natural stone found in the area. The design and ambiance is modeled on the traditional building style of the old farmhouses from bygone days. This stone building is the centre of the lodge, with a dining room, lounge and pub as well as verandah and traditional African Boma. |
