In the old childrens story, Stone Soup, three weary travelers in need of food and rest come upon a small village only to find the inhabitants wary and pretending to be in need themselves. The travelers convince the villagers they can make a soup out of stones. Enchanted by this marvelous claim, the villagers gradually contribute the food they had hidden away.
