Strandvagen 7 was completed in 1911 and was one of the first buildings on the esplanade. The Malmstrom family bought Strandvagen 7c in 1918 and during the depression let out several of the grand apartments to foreign embassies. The remaining apartments were converted into hotel rooms. During 1940-60 Strandvagspensionatet was run on the first floor. The present owner Sune Malmstrom turned the building into a modern hotel in 1966 and took the name Hotel Diplomat.
