Set amongst the beautiful Martinborough Wine Village you’ll find the relaxed and intimate Peppers Martinborough Hotel. Established in 1882, the hotel is an exclusive Peppers Retreat offering historic boutique accommodation only 75 minutes drive east of Wellington and three hours south of Hawke’s Bay.
At the retreat you can choose from sixteen individually designed guest accommodation rooms all named after early settlers to the region or early winemakers such as Henry Bunny, Bidwell, Martin, Chifney, Wilton, Riddiford and Weld. Indulge in the elegant surroundings of one of the nine Verandah Rooms, located at the top of the grand flight of stairs in the original 1882 building, or take a wander through the pretty courtyard just beyond the lobby and enjoy the tranquillity of seven spacious Garden Rooms finished in a restful simple country style.
Martinborough is known internationally for its outstanding wines - most of which are grown and made within walking distance of the retreat. The retreat’s wine list includes a comprehensive selection of varietals and vintages from these great vineyards.
Settlers Bar and Restaurant offers guests a relaxed atmosphere and serves sumptuous food and wine that is purely European in flavour and reflective of the seasonal produce of the Wairarapa region. Settlers Bar and Restaurant is open 7 days a week for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
The Label Room is the fine dining option at the retreat. Located on the ground floor of the hotel overlooking the gardens, the Label Room accommodates up to 28 guests and is a showcase of Martinborough wine. One of the main features of the restaurant is a huge wine rack, full of almost 500 wine bottles from local winemakers. The Label Room is open Tuesday to Saturday for evening meals. |
