A luxury lodge, probably most well-known for its nonprofit foundation, Africat, which serves to conserve and protect threatened cat species of Namibia, such as cheetah, leopard, and lion. Apart from the bush camp, there is also an education and research centre on the property, as well as rehabilitation camps for various animals. Guests at both Okonjima Main Lodge and Okonjima Bush Camp can experience the work done by the Africat Foundation. (ro 08/06) Thatched roofs and exposed stone are the predominant features of the exterior of the main camp. Meals for the main camp are served in the Lion Lapa. Breakfast (brunch) consists of a buffet of muesli, yogurt, fruits, cereal, cold meats and cheese, with bacon, sausage and eggs made to order. Dinner is a three course menu served at a specific time each evening to allow for coordination of evening activities. A small curio shop is located in the reception area. 10 Single rooms Double rooms Twin rooms The main camp is made up of ten double, ensuite rooms housed in what was the owners' original farmhouse. In 1992, the farmhouse was turned into a lodge, with rooms situated around a lush garden and facing the open fire entertainment area. Please note that room rates are on full board basis, inclusive of all meals and activities. Located halfway between Windhoek and Etosha National Park, this property is approximately three hours from the international airport in Windhoek and three to four hours away from Etosha.
