Situated in Assouel, one of the oldest districts of the medina, the Dar Meryem riad is within 5 minutes on foot from the post office Bab El-Khemis, near a car park watched by a guard and close to the Ben Youssef Madrasa and close to the small museum created by Omar Ben Jelloun. The bus station is around 100 m from the riad and the railway station is some 800 m away.
The riad is a house which has kept all the charm of the past. It consists of three big rooms and two superior suites, each of them different and personalised. It is inspired in decoration by the city which carries its name. The riad offers a lounge bar to take a mint tea and taste the Moroccan sweet petits fours. Under the Berber tent on the terrace is the ideal place to take in a magnificent view of the medina of Marrakesh and the Atlas Mountains. Renovated in 2010, the air-conditioned establishment welcomes guests in a lobby with 24-hour reception and check-out service. The property also offers a hotel safe, TV lounge, cafe, breakfast room, room and laundry services and bicycle hire.
The rooms and suites are equipped with air conditioning (individually regulated) and heating. Suites Fes and Essaouira are equipped with fireplaces and the atmospheres are created in the style of Dar El Beida with Art Deco furniture, the Berber style of Zagora and the colours of the Red City, Marrakech. The en suite bathrooms in the rooms are fitted with a shower and hairdryer. All accommodation features a double bed and Internet access.
The riad offers guests an indoor swimming pool and children's swimming area, a sun terrace and massage and spa treatments for a relaxing stay. Guests can find a golf course about 700 m from the riad.
The meals are served either inside in the Western dining room, the Moroccan lounge, outside at the edge of the pond or on the terrace. Products are fresh, bought every day on the market. The breakfasts are served each morning. Lunch and dinner are offered a la carte.
The staff organises dinners for birthdays, parties with musical entertainment, New Year's Eves, Berber evenings under the tent and excursions. They also accompany guests for a walk in souks and pamper them with the hammam, massages and mint tea. |
