Spend a night or a week at Central Park Hostel, Riga when you are backpacking Latvia or traveling through the country independently. A friendly Riga guest house, it offers affordable private rooms within walking distance of Old Riga (Vecriga in Latvian), a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Central Park Hostel is a family-run guest house built around a garden and courtyard where guests can park their cars. For the safety of guests, the front gate is kept closed and the courtyard is monitored through video surveillance. Inside the house are 2 communal kitchens, each equipped a refrigerator, microwave oven, toaster, and other kitchenware for the preparation of meals. Among the other amenities are TV sets and computers for guest use, hairdryers in all bathrooms, and Wi-Fi internet access throughout the property. For an additional fee, the staff can provide laundry service, ironing facilities, shuttle service, faxing service, babysitting services, and more. This guest house is located on Elizabetes Street, one of Riga’s larger and more beautiful streets, known for its Art Nouveau architecture. If you are traveling by bus, no shuttle is necessary, as the Central Park Hostel is a 5 minute walk from the central bus station (Centrala Stacija). Approx. 1 km/0.6 mile northwest of the guest house is the Freedom Monument (Brivibas piemineklis) in a park called the Bastejkalns. Farther west are the sights of Old Riga: the Town Hall and various historic guild halls; the Museum of the Occupation of Latvia; St. Peter’s Church (Peterbaznica); the Porcelain Museum; and the Riga Castle (Rigas Pils), housing the National History Museum of Latvia and the Museum of Foreign Art. | |
