Capturing the essence of the Southern Alps, Seiser Alm Urthaler is an architectural phenomenon. Sustainably built using untreated wood and natural materials, it truly reflects the natural beauty of the surrounding alpine meadows and imposing mountain peaks. This is the perfect place from which to enjoy year-round scenic adventures, with a pampering spa, indoor and outdoor pools and delicious regional cuisine. Large windows frame stunning mountain views and flood the stylishly modern interiors with natural light. The soothing scent of natural wood creates an especially relaxing ambience while special touches like handmade designer rugs in the rooms create an additional comfort factor. In summer, hire a mountain bike or take to the numerous trails on a guided hike through Europes highest plateau. With the ski slopes right on the doorstep, this is the ideal winter playground. Return from the great outdoors to the warmth of a beauty bath or revitalising massage in the spa. Seiser Alm Urthaler is the first hotel in the Alps made from wood. It was built in a purely biological way without chemical substances, with wood made in a special moon phase, the walls made from wood and glass, the floors from Lasa Marble, the carpets hand made. Healthy, allergy free, unique in Europe. Erwin Thoma, an Austrian company, which rediscovered the ancient knowledge of wood, realised the project with a glue-less wood construction, Wood Hundred, in German Holz Hundert, without pollutants, without chemical substances, without allergens and radiation safe. Hereby, horizontal and vertical wood layers are stratified to compact construction components without gaps. Completely dry wood pegs penetrate the layers of the construction components. The pegs absorb the remaining moisture and swell up into the wood. A groundbreaking example of modern architecture and lasting construction was realised in cooperation with the architects Silvano Tacchus and Franco Didone, and the designer Stefan Morawetz. |
