The main characteristic of the B&B Casa Schlatter is that of being not only a comfortable accommodation facility for a fine tourist who wants to visit Florence lodging with an antique, luxury residence but also a real museum. During their stay the guests can enjoy the vision of many original pieces of C. Adolfo Schlatter, painter and sculptor, realized in these rooms and never taken out of the house. You will then have the chance to discover the hidden treasure of a great artist, who lived and worked at the end of the 19th century still unknown by the wide public; you will be also surrounded by the artistic atmosphere of Florence, a city full of wonders. You will then have the chance to discover the story and beauty of Casa Schlatter: the uniqueness of the bedrooms, each one in its own different style, the relax and peace of the house garden, the warm welcome of Alessandra, the owner, without forgetting the ease of being in a strategic position for your stay in Florence. The Bed &Breakfast is in a building dated back to the beginning of the 20th century. The Swiss painter Carlo Adolfo Schlatter built it. The artist, belonging to the Florentine artistic scene of that time among Decadents, Macchiaioli and Symbolists, employed it as studio and home, after his family moved to Italy at the beginning of the 1800. Still owned by his descendant, the house has been restored carefully in order to maintain the original atmosphere although all modern comforts have been added. The walls are decorated by big pictures, which represent Florence as it used to be, and these are part of the works of the artist; statues and other precious objects enrich the atmosphere, completely provided with antique furniture. Two bronze dragons guard the house from the roof...in a few words you can breath a very unique atmosphere, and the guests can have a very pleasant and relaxing stay because of the house position: it lies at the foot of the hills of Fiesole, a few minutes away from the centre of Florence. The house has three double rooms, each one with their own independent bathroom. The biggest room has an intermediate floor and can accommodate up to four people. Breakfast is served in the small private garden, or in the big hall always available to the guests. Alessandra is the artist's great gran-child and she takes care of the hospitality; she is always happy to satisfy her costumers' needs, making their stay pleasant with typical local dishes in a warm, cozy atmosphere. |
