Il Palagetto is found in the heart of Florence, in Oltrarno, next to one of the most characteristic and typical zones in the historical center, that of San Frediano. The Santa Maria Novella train station is an easy fifteen-minute walk (ten minutes by bus) from the house. From there, all of the most important monuments and attractions of the city are only a short and pleasant walk away. La Fortezza da Basso and Stazione Leopolda (where many festivals and fairs are often held) are in the immediate vicinity, and are easily reachable in a few minutes by taxi or car from Il Palagetto. Even though our guesthouse is centrally located - at the foot of the hills of Monte Oliveto - it is comfortably tucked away from the traffic and street noise, facing an old, typical Florentine street, and bordering a park with a nearby villa that was once owned by nobility. Il Palagetto Guest House was once the home of a prestigious family in the 600s, and was at one time a part of the agricultural property of the Olivetani fathers (of the nearby convent of Monte Oliveto) outside the city gates. It was transformed into a small residence in the nineteenth century. A private parking area is included for the exclusive use of our guests. There are five large bedrooms available to our guests, some with private bathroom, and others that share a communal bathroom. All of the rooms are laid with stone fired or wooden floors, furnished in ancient Florentine style, and have oriental rugs, unique draperies, an Lcd color TV with satellite, and an information corner with brochures, tourist maps, etc.
