General Description | |
A 200-year-old palace in Rajasthan, rebuilt stone by stone at a new location, miles away from its original site, makes for an almost surreal experience. Another Palace hotel in Rajasthan sounds about as exciting as another rose in the Mughal Gardens. Fateh Bagh, a majestic 25,000 sq ft structure is located on the banks of the river. It is a 200-year-old palace transported piece by piece from its original site 50 km away, and meticulously recreated in all its original splendor. (The recreated Palace is now a luxury resort hotel and the latest acquisition of the prestigious HRH Group of Hotels). The total number of pieces in stone slabs, columns, pillars, pavilions, brackets, arches and wooden pieces, which needed to be transported / transplanted came to a staggering 65,000. The magnitude of the task is awe-inspiring, but was made possible with dedication, will, love and sheer obsession. Fateh Bagh has a history as rich as the State it is nestled in. For 200 years, it stood as "Rawla Koshilav" at Koshilav village, 50 km from its present site in Ranakpur, fell in love with it, decided to restore it to its original glory, but at a more approachable site and the rest as they say is what fables are made of. | |
