The hotel is over 600 year old, and is set in delightful grounds (The gardens have won first prize in Taunton In Bloom three years running) only a mile from the centre of Taunton. The owners have opened up three original inglenook fireplaces and a complete working well over 30 feet deep, which was uncovered in the kitchen. The bedrooms are individually decorated with antique furniture, all rooms are ensuite and have a hospitality tray,radio alarm/direct dial telephone, and remote control LCD Television. Extra touches include luxury toiletries, sweets and paper handkerchiefs. All Bedrooms/ bathrooms have been refurbished, including upgrading to larger Flat Screen Televisions, and some rooms have Built in DVD Players.,and the new beds with Memory Foam Mattress's, are very popular with our guests. Meryan House has its own Restaurant where local and seasonal produce is used as much as possible. There is a balanced La Carte Menu as well as daily specials, but it is advisable to check whether the restaurant is open on weekends, as there are frequently private functions going on. On a recent Taunton Deane Brough Council Hygiene visit, the Hotel was Awarded a 5 STAR RATINGIn 2011 the main road to the Hotel has been altered, coming from Taunton on the A38 at Silkmills Roundabout turn right, take first left into Waterfield Dr, at the T turn right into Bishops Hull Rd, and the Hotel is 500 yards ahead. | |
