Salisbury is a medieval city which has retained much of its character and charm. The historic streets are built to a chequered system and provide interesting shopping, good restaurants and many old pubs to discover. The Cathedral Close is a wonderful change in atmosphere, with the tallest spire in England to admire. It also houses the best preserved Magna Carta on view. On the northern outskirts are the ruins of the original city at Old Sarum and Stonehenge is only a 15 minute drive away from The Guesthouse. To the west of The Guesthouse is Wilton House and gardens a stately home owned by the Earl of Pembroke. Salisbury is an ideal city to spend a short break with many places of interest close by. | |
