The Elms Hotel is an impressive Grade II listed building set in beautiful grounds in the historical market town of Retford. The town of Retford can boast more than 750 years as a market town, having been granted its charter by King Henry III in 1246. The spacious Market Square was laid out in the 18th century and is surrounded by elegant Georgian buildings. The original Georgian Town Hall, however, was replaced in 1868 by the present building, which has been described as looking like a French chateau. Inside are an impressive ballroom and council chamber. Also in the Market Square is the Broad Stone, the base of an old parish boundary cross. The Hotel provides an excellent base for visiting Nottinghamshire. Sherwood Forest and Clumber Park are just a short distance away. The new Robin Hood Doncaster Sheffield Airport is a 20 minute journey by car. The hotel has 16 beautifully appointed en suite bedrooms all with flat screen digital TV's, tea and coffee making facilities, hair dryers, irons and ironing boards are available upon request. The hotel has a fully licensed restaurant and bar, meals are available all day and also in the evening from a varied and great value menu. The hotel has a large function room for up to 200 guests which can cater for meetings, events, special occasions, and private dining. | |
