The Wheatsheaf Inn is the perfect place to stay while you explore the beautiful Cotswold countryside, or visit some historic towns close by, including Cheltenham, Cirencester, Bath, Oxford and Stratford-upon-avon, not forgetting the world famous Cheltenham racecourse. The area surrounding the Wheatsheaf Inn has been designated as an ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’ by English Heritage and the area has some of the best walks and cycle routes in the Cotswolds. It is also surrounded by some of the prettiest and typical Cotswold villages in the region with some of the UK’s most famous historic houses and gardens located within 30 minutes drive (Sudeley Castle, Warwick Castle, Berkeley Castle, Blenheim Palace, Hidcote Gardens, Rousham, Sezincote etc). The Inn is situated in the pretty Cotswold town of Northleach. Northleach’s market square and historic church dates back to the 12th Century. During the 16th and 17th Centuries the town was famous round Europe for its wool trade but now it is a quiet Cotswold town with a good wine bar, three pubs and lots of other local amenities. The Wheatsheaf Inn itself is a pretty seventeenth century coaching inn. It has flag stone floors, open fires and a pretty garden where food is served all year round. The daily changing fresh menu is created by chef Bernd Harfenmeister, who trained at the Clarence Hotel in Dublin and the French Laundry in California and his food attracts people from all over the county. There are nine double bedrooms all with ensuite shower/bathrooms with Penthaligons toiletries, TVs and tea and coffee making facilities. The Wheatsheaf Inn has been recommended in Alistair Sawdays Special Places to Stay and the Good Food Guide. For more information see www.cotswoldswheatsheaf.com. | |
