There is a lot to do in and around Newquay, without having to use the car. Newquay has several beaches ideal for families and surfers alike. Fistral beach is famous for World championship competitions and great for swimming and surfing. Towan beach, Tolcarne beach, Great Western beach, Lusty Glaze Activity Centre are all within easy reach of Surfside Stop and have life guards on duty all through the summer season. Watergate Bay is well known and very popular for kite and wind surfing and Jamie Olivers 15 restaurant (booking essential). Padstow is a short drive away and has a beautiful harbour and the world famous Rick Steins Seafood restaurant and deli. Stroll to Newquay Harbour and capture some of the old character of the town. Watch the fishermen unload their daily catches. See the seals in the harbour, sometimes up to 8 at a time, especially when the boats return with their fish and feed them. Schools of Dolphins in Newquay Bay are a regular occurrence. Fishing trips can be booked at the kiosks. Or take exhilarating speedboat rides around the bay. There are some excellent restaurants in and around Newquay and a few superb places specialising in fresh local sea food. Mexican, Indian, Chinese, Thai, Mediterranean eateries are all within walking distance. | |
