The G&A, as it is known locally, is the largest building in the centre of the picturesque town of Melrose, and is of a grand Victorian style although the original building is some 400 years old. The hotel has 29 guest bedrooms and also offers a public bar, Scott's Dining Room and three separate function and conference rooms. All guest rooms are en suite, offering either a shower facility or bath and shower. The rooms are comfortably furnished and offer tea/coffee making facilities, a television with 12 digital channel selection, a direct dial telephone utilising digital lines which allow computer connectivity and also secure wireless internet access in most rooms. Scott's provides a warm, friendly and informal dining environment in which to enjoy the food which is cooked to order from the fresh ingredients. The Bar@The George & Abbotsford is a great place for the locals and guests to enjoy a drink. Now featuring real ales from the north-east, Cumbrian or Scottish Breweries, it is becoming well known for the quality of its ales.
