The Best Western Forest Lodge Hotel was built in 1820 as the dower house of the Northerwood Estate and was used as a hunting box by King George IV. The hotel still retains much of its Georgian architecture and stands in 1= acres of grounds, overlooking the New Forest Golf Course. Within easy walking distance is the bustling village of Lyndhurst, where the New Forest Museum is situated. The country style decor and attentive but friendly service make the hotel a fine example of English hospitality. The hotel entrance has wheelchair access and ground floor bedrooms. There are 28 comfortable bedrooms, including single, double and family rooms, all of which have en-suite bath or shower, colour television, direct dial telephone and tea and coffee facilities. A recent refurbishment includes a new, indoor, heated pool, sauna and fitness room. The elegant restaurant, The Forest Room, offers excellent table d'htte and ` la carte menu's, complemented by a varied wine list. The bar provides the ideal atmosphere to enjoy pre-dinner drinks and both the sumptuously furnished lounges are perfect to unwind in at the end of the day. The Forest Room makes an ideal function room for weddings, parties and conferences of up to 100 people. The Red Admiral Room provides excellent facilities for residential conferences of up to 200 delegates. Below the hotel in the old cellar is the Red Admiral Bar, available for private parties and functions. The Hunting Lodge concept still provides the ideal balance between a town and country house hotel for either business or leisure. | |
