A traditional 16th century inn situated in Lydford, part of the dramatic Dartmoor National Park. It oozes with character from every nook and cranny. The lamp-lit bar with low, bowed ceilings, many curios and open fire, the lovely snug with high backed settles and the restaurant area with beamed ceiling. There is a beer garden to the back of the inn with views of the castle. We have a total of eight bedrooms, all en-suite, including a large room with its own roof terrace overlooking the garden and the 12th century castle next door. There are also two rooms with additional futon beds, one four poster and four cottage rooms each with their own character. The historic village of Lydford is set in rural surroundings with no street lighting. Lydford village has a 12th century castle and is nearby Lydford Gorge (National Trust) .There is easy access to the Granite Way off-road cycle path. It is less than an hours drive from the North and South Devon coast and Cornwall making the Castle Inn an ideal central location to explore the area. Lydford is a great destination for walkers, cyclists and those wanting simply to relax. | |
