Though only 33 years of age, The Capital is something of an institution; London could not do without it. The Michelin-rated restaurant, acknowledged to be one of the city's best, has recently been magnificently rejuvenated as has the bar. The accommodation sets out, as ever, to preserve a state of grace which explains why royalty and statesmen find it so attractive.
The Capital is tucked away in a residential street, a minute's walk from the great stores of Knightsbridge like Harrods and the boutiques of Beauchamp Place. Other attractions within walking distance are The Royal Albert Hall, The Natural History Museum, the Science Museum and the Victoria & Albert Museum.
The property is a family-run affair with interiors that incorporate the imagination of acclaimed British designers. The works of art are the collection of the family and the furniture and accoutrements are either handpicked or specially commissioned.
All the medium sized rooms are in excellent condition. They are designed with an emphasis on refined elegance. All are individually designed and the fabrics for many of the rooms were chosen from the Ralph Lauren collection, and each has its special charm and character. The beautiful marble bathrooms are medium in size.
The Capital Restaurant, serving gourmet French cuisine, has an enviable reputation for excellence. It is currently the only London restaurant situated within a hotel to hold two coveted Michelin Stars. The Capital Restaurant has been voted Best Hotel for Food in the UK by Conde Nast Traveller in their 2006 Gold List. The bar serves light meals all day and traditional afternoon tea is served in the sitting room. |
