General Description | |
The Furnival House is essentially a students' hall of residence, open to independent-traveller types in summer. The Edwardian red and white brick building is located in Highgate Village, next door to fashionable Hampstead. It is a pleasant alternative to the usual touristy hotels and great for exploring nearby Camden Market, or to walk to the famous Gothic cemetery or 18th-century Kenwood House. The village centre is also lined with interesting pubs and shops. Rooms at the Furnival House are all single rooms, with washbasins and shared toilet/bathroom facilities. Each floor has fully equipped kitchens where hot snacks can be prepared. Do try to get a room on the upper floors because with Highgate located on one of the highest, greenest points of London, you know you'll be in for a good view. And if you want get a better idea of what the Furnival House originally looked like, head to the large common room where many of the original architectural features have been retained. | |
