The hotel is within walking distance of Mary Queen of Scots Birthplace, Linlithgow Palace, located at the eastern end of the Royal Burgh, just seventeen miles from Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland. The historic town of Linlithgow is ideally situated for both leisure and business requirements. and is the ideal base from where to tour Scotland. With excellent motorway and train connections to Edinburgh, Glasgow, Stirling and north to the Highlands. The wonderful Forth Bridges and the Falkirk Wheel are also only a short drive away. Built in about 1759, the Star and Garter is a large imposing Georgian style building, steeped in history, dating back to the mid eighteenth century. The Hotel is family-owned with 15 recently refurbished well appointed en-suite bedrooms. This historic hotel has a very comfortable 60-seater restaurant and boasts an exciting menu to suit all tastes combining the best of traditional and contemporary Scottish fayre. All the food is fresh and homemade with daily deliveries to our kitchen. The traditional Scottish bar offers a wide selection of malt whiskies, and an excellent choice of brand leading beers and spirits. In the winter it offers a welcoming real coal fire. There is a spacious south facing beer garden, to the rear of the hotel, where customers have the opportunity to enjoy a BBQ during the summer months. We have a karaoke on a Friday night and a disco on a Saturday night in the ground floor bar of the hotel until 1 a.m. | |
