The Kveldsro, which is Norse for "Evening Peace", opened as a hotel in April 1969 and underwent a total refurbishment in 1993. The Kveldsro House Hotel is very much the Country House Hotel in town - relaxed ambience, and a commitment to good food, freshly produced, using local produce where possible. You can choose to dine in either the Cocktail Bar or the Gallery Area restaurant - the extensive menu will seek to match all expectations, with a select wine list (chosen from one of the few remaining independent merchants in Edinburgh). A wide range of tempting options are prepared by one of the islands' leading chefs to ensure that you enjoy the very best prepared dishes made from the best local ingredients available. From there you can retire to the drawing room to enjoy a relaxing cup of coffee. The tasteful and comfortable bar provides morning coffee, snacks, lunches and bar suppers or is just the place to sit and enjoy your favourite drink and watch the boats go by. All public areas and bedrooms have broadband wifi internet access for those travelling with laptops. The sea - in Shetland you're never more than 3 miles from it - also plays a continuous and important part in the past and present of Shetland. Shipwrecks litter the coastline and the islands' Viking heritage is still in strong evidence in the buildings and folklore of the place. A wide range of tempting dishes are prepared by one of the islands' leading chefs to ensure that you enjoy the very best taste, tenderness and quality. | |
