General Description | |
Snowdrop Cottage is located, off the beaten track, adjacent to farmland, yet close to amenities and bus-routes. It has a large, magical enclosed garden together with a natural pond, mature trees and wildlife. At the garden gate footpaths lead, at one end, to a famous Somerset pub - Eli's (The Rose and Crown) - and at the other to the site of the Battle of Langport (1645)! And it has snowdrops too - visitors in February will find the garden carpeted with them. Snowdrop Cottage has recently been refurbished to a high standard. It offers one double and two twin-bedded bedrooms, one of which is downstairs. It has a fully-equipped kitchen, a luxury bathroom (with a bath!) and an additional separate toilet. For those who like being outside in all weathers, a special feature of Snowdrop Cottage is a large drying room for wet weather clothing and washing. Alternatively, you can just be snug and curl up with a good book. The cottage has full central heating and a wood-burning stove with an ample supply of logs. Snowdrop Cottage is ideally located between the two small market towns - Langport and Somerton - and meets all tastes. Within a mile and a half of the cottage you will find two real-ale country pubs offering good home-cooked food; the River Parrett with opportunities for fishing, walking the Parrett Trail, and cycling - with cycle and walking equipment hire in Langport; a leisure centre with a fully equipped fitness centre, tennis and squash courts and an outdoor pool in the summer months; a range of local shops selling high quality local produce; historic churches and traditional architecture reflecting the strong links with the European mainland in the past; health and beauty treatments; and a world-renowned plant centre with the national collection of peonies. | |
