Traditional Hebridian hospitality will always be a key part of the service at this hotel that is housed in a building dating back to 1850. Despite many modernisations carried out over the hotel's 150-odd year history, much of the original character has been retained. A total of 26 rooms are on offer, spread over 2 floors. ightly known as 'Stornoway's most historic hotel' - the Royal is right beside the marina, where you can relax, enjoy the hotel's cosy character and enjoy dining in it's restaurants. Many of the hotel's period features have been retained in our front facing bedrooms, which overlook the marina and Lews Castle Grounds, so it's worth booking early and requesting one of these - each is very individual. It's said that Lord Leverhulme used to sit in the oriel window of his room, watching the goings on prior to moving in to the castle. Rear facing rooms are in more contemporary style, are comfortable and a little quieter than those facing the street at the front - though this small town is rarely noisy!
