The Ravensworth Arms is situated just 3 minutes from the A1, and is set in a beautiful rural conservation area with panoramic views of the country side, and the World Famous Angel of the North Sculpture. Newcastle City Centre and the Metro Centre are a short car journey from the Hotel, and Newcastle airport and the Stadium of light are a 20 minute car journey. Some of the regions finest golf courses such as: Slaley Hall, Close House, Beamish, and Matfern are all easily accessible from the hotel. This historical building stands on the site of Clubdon Hall, and takes it's name from the nearby Ravensworth Castle. The pub can boast a wealth of literary connections: Lewis Carroll was a frequent visitor due to his connections at Oxford University to Lord Ravensworth and it is said that part of Alice in Wonderland' was written here. Also, the famous writer Catherine Cookson's mother worked here and it is believed Catherine was conceived here!In keeping with the traditional atmosphere of the building we have 19 comfortable en suite bedrooms including an excellent four poster room and two family rooms all of which have recently been fully refurbished. All our hotel guests have access to free wifi, this is also available in some public area including the coffee lounge The restaurant offers a contemporary menu to suit all tastes as well as a children's menu. The menu is available all day. Thursday night is curry night. £9.99 which includes a free drink. Friday night is fish night. We currently offer an evening two and three course meal deals for £9.99 and £11.99 respectively. Our meeting room, the Lewis Carroll Suite holds up to 50 people, and is ideal for small Weddings, Civil Ceremonies, Anniversaries, Birthday Parties, Private Dining, special occasions, conferences, and meetings.
