General Description | |
Aynsome Manor is situated in the beautiful Vale of Cartmel. It was once the residence of a descendant of the Earl of Pembroke, founder of the 12th century Priory which the hotel overlooks in this picturesque village. The Varley family have managed Aynsome Manor since 1981, creating an elegant, comfortable and tranquil atmosphere, maintaining period features throughout the building, part of which date back to 1512, although the main house is a mere 'pup' at 1740, with later additions in 1840, such as the large glass cupola. The Georgian dining room with its ornate tongue and ball ceiling, old portraits and dark panelling, offers AA Red Rosette Cuisine. The 12 bedrooms built mainly around the courtyard offer high levels of amenities and comfort. Two are in a separate cottage a few paces across the courtyard. Aynsome is the perfect holiday location from which to explore the Southern Lake District Peninsulas, Morecambe Bay or, when the weather is not so kind, to come and relax by the log fires in one of the two comfortable lounges. Holker Hall, Sizergh Castle and Levens Hall are all situated nearby. | |
