 Hostal del Senglar has a peaceful rural location, in the hills of southern Catalonia. Renovated in 2000, the three-storey whitewashed and terracotta-roofed Hostal del Senglar is now almost completely obscured by the evergreen trees of its own garden, together with those of the neighbouring civic park of Espluga de Francoli.
It is a white-walled and wooden-beamed labyrinth inside. The many-chambered dining hall, with its wooden balconies. The five-course Menu de Calcotada is an appropriately medieval feast - a traditional celebration of the vine and onion crops specific to the area (calcots is Catalan for shallots). The bright bedrooms have stout wood and leather chairs, and decent-sized tables in addition to good, solid beds. Generous rugs add warmth to the red-tiled floors, and plants, pots and original oil-paintings are dotted around.
It offers free Wi-Fi access in public areas, and free private parking on site. It has a 24-hour reception with safety deposit box. During summer season (from 24th June till end of August) it offers free access to the swimming pool located 2 min walking.
This traditional guest house is set in the village of Espluga de Francoli. It is just 2km away from Poblet Monestary, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Many other cultural activities can be done in the village (Rural Life Museum and the pre historic Caves to visit…)
The area offers the possibility to practice activities like biking, tracking, quads and horse riding.
The area around the guest house is ideal for wine lovers. Visits of warehouses and wine tasting are possible, to arrange it please ask at the reception.
During the last three decades, the guest house has developed an authentic Catalan cuisine based on daily fresh market products. This devotion for good cuisine has made it famous in the two provinces of Tarragona and Lleida.
The beautiful Medieval town of Montblanc is just 10km away. There is easy access to Reus Airport and the Roman city of Tarragona.
