Nymindegab Kro is situated on top of the cliff farthest west - literally speaking on the edge of the North Sea. The inn was originally a four-winged farm. Here they started serving drinks and food in the middle of the 1800s. The West Jutland nature with the sea and the fjord attracted many painters and other artists. Nymindegab was actually a small community of artists for a period. One of the first painters was the young Laurits Tuxen who came here from 1879 and the composer Carl Nielsen wrote some of his music for the opera Maskerade here in Nymindegab. Unfortunately the inn burnt down both in 1936 and 1943. The inn as it is today has been totally renovated from top to bottom. A whole new wing of rooms was built in 2002 and in 2006 top-modern course and conference facilities were established. Nymindegab Kro tempts with a magnificent restaurant from which you have a captivating view over the cliffs- the sea and the high West Jutland skies. The menu is changed regularly but it always comprises creatively composed dishes prepared with the best ingredients of the season. A special offer is the everyday pampering of the restaurant consisting of a glass of champagne plus a 5-course gourmet dinner which stimulates the senses of sight- taste and smell. All in all it is the target of the inn to give the guests great gastronomic experiences in informal surroundings. Below the high cliffs the beach stretches for miles and invites playing and bathing on hot summer days. It also invites refreshing walks in other periods of the year when you may experience the North Sea in all its ruggedness. |
