RESTAURANT BILY KONICEK
The hotel RESTAURANT is situated in the unique Romanesque cellars that date back to the 12th century. The reconstruction of these premises, which took almost 4 years to accomplish, was financed with the aid of the Single Programming Document for Objective 2, that is a grant from the European Regional Development fund, which we received in the year 2006.
The restaurant specializes in international and Czech fine dining cuisine and has a seating capacity of 80 persons. After dinner there is a possibility to sit your-self down in a small lounge, sip cocktails and dance the night away.
It is important to note, that these premises were in fact prior to the floods in the 13th century a part of the ground floor. Nevertheless, due to the floods, after which it became necessary to increase the ground level of the city by 4 metres of soil, this part of the building then became the cellar. It is probably this act that enabled the preservation of these premises to this date. During the reconstruction of these premises, which previously were used as a music club, numerous archaeological and architectural surveys were undertaken, during which the history of the house have been found.
To this date one can see the cobble paving, typical for buildings from the middle ages, as well as various boxes in the wall, whose function has not been revealed to this date.
In one of the rooms the archaeological survey revealed the original Romanesque entrance to the Old Town square, which is not used currently and the torso of a secret room, but what it hides has, much like the rest of the two adjacent buildings, remained a secret.
CAFÉ BILY KONICEK
We have recently opened our new CAFE – Cafe Bily Konicek (Café White Horse). The café is a part of the hotel and has an independent entrance to the Zelezna Street. . The café has been designed within the same tone as is carried throughout our hotel - white walls, painted with a white ceiling, with very modern looking styled white tables. It could easily be compared to the John and Yoko Halcyon days of 1969. The café great big large street level windows and is a Romanesque design of cellars and vaults. Similarly like the hotel, this part of the building is also a part of the UNESCO Heritage list. |
