The hotel is close to the shores of Geneva's Lake Leman and just a five-minute walk from the railway station. There are 121 spacious guestrooms. They are rather nondescript in style with a pale pastel colour scheme and slightly old-fashioned furniture. All rooms have direct dial phone, colour cable television and a data port.

The Carlton has its own fine bar and restaurant. The Le Canard Laque is downstairs off the lobby, nicely decorated in Chinese style and serving delicious Chinese and Western food served. The Salle Convivale is a more intimate space. Every morning a buffet breakfast is served.
