Athelstane House was built in 1860 and is the oldest continually operating guest house in Queenscliff. Recently renovated, it offers many modern conveniences, such as wireless internet access. You can order from the menu of the new Athelstane Wine Bar and dine in the cheerful restaurant or on the sunny deck or courtyard. Guests have exclusive use of the hotel’s first-floor balcony and the cosy sitting room with a fireplace and a small library. The guest house is located at the centre of the town of Queenscliff, in close proximity to Citizens Park. Among the local attractions are the Queenscliffe Historical Museum, the Queenscliffe Maritime Museum, and the Fort Queenscliff Museum and Black Lighthouse. The Queenscliff Golf Club is located on nearby Swan Island. Queenscliff is the terminus of the Bellarine Peninsula Railway and is one of the endpoints on the Searoad ferry routes to Sorrento on the Mornington Peninsula.
