Located an hour's drive outside Melbourne, Australia, the Chateau Yering is situated on 250 acres that borders the Yarra River. Views across the Yarra Valley to the Great Dividing Range are perceptible from the property, which ushers guests in through a rose-bordered driveway that leads to the historic house that was built by Paul De Castella in 1854. The site of the first vineyard in Victoria, Chateau Yering has been fully restored to its former grandeur. There are more than 30 vineyards within a few minutes' drive of Chateau Yering and many of the locally produced wines are featured on the wine lists of the hotel's restaurants. The property features the fine-dining Eleonore's restaurant with seating for 120 people and Sweetwater Cafe. Gary Cooper is the Executive Chef at Chateau Yering. His reputation for refined cuisine was developed at Fanny's, Marchetti's Latin, Burnham Beeches, Cotswold House and the Wild Oak Cafe. The Chateau Yering features 32 guestrooms all decorated with different color schemes, antique furniture, works of art and fine fabrics. The River Suites each have king size beds, claw-foot bathtubs and separate showers, balcony or veranda with views of the grounds to the distant hills. The Stable Suites are elegantly furnished with antique four-poster beds, open fireplaces, spa baths, stereo television with VCR and rear verandas overlooking private gardens. The Yarra Suites feature separate sitting rooms, king size beds, spa baths and balconies with panoramic views.
