His son-in-law, colonel William Cooper, a colonel in the Civil War with the Ohio Volunteer Infantry, had a distinguished career as an attorney, U.S. Congressman and Ohio Adjutant General. The Russell-Cooper House has undergone a faithful and loving restoration to its Victorian era of elegance.
