Guestrooms have been designed using a neutral palette of warm greys and beige as a basis, accented by stronger colors of cinnamon and blue. Fabrics and materials are rich and textural and include cherry wood, black galaxy granite, mohair, leather and etched art glass. All of the furniture is custom designed. Decorative window seats in most rooms are other unique features. The design of the guestroom bathrooms is of particular note. Sliding cherry wood doors along one side of an oversized bathtub can be opened, revealing the guestroom and allowing guests to create an open environment. With the sliding doors open, guests may enjoy the view of the city and Lake Michigan from the bathtub. In addition to the oversized bathtubs, bathrooms feature an eight-inch flat-screen LCD television visible from the bathtub, walk-in showers with two showerheads, double sinks and a compartmentalized toilet area.
The hotel offers one of the best restaurants in town with contemporary and timeless design, guests enter the restaurant through a 3000 bottle wine room, serving entree specialties such as sea bass risotto and beef tenderloin. The seasonal outdoor seating for lunch, dinner and cocktails is located on the seventh floor of the hotel, offering dramatic views of the Chicago skyline with a light menu open mid-April through mid-September weather permitting. Complimentary coffee and tea in the morning with an assortment of newspapers is offered on the lobby level in a unique and intimate seating area. The lobby is medium in size and is classic and contemporary in design. The lobby is adorned in warm greys and beige neutrals that compliment the focal point, the 1968 masterpiece by painter Gerhard Richter, "Piazza del Duomo, Milan.
