The refuge is a comfortable brickwork building, in one of the most spectacular positions on the Mont Blanc, also visible from the bottom of the Val Veny valley: in 1965 it replaced the old Capanna Gamba, in memory of the young Milanese climber Franco Monzino. Frequented by roped parties heading towards some of the most demanding faces of Mont Blanc, the refuge can be reached by walkers able to handle steep granite faces equipped with metal chains.
