The farm “San Fele” stretches for 57 hectares 400 metres above sea-level on the slides of Mt. Sellaro in the National Park of Pollino. Its strategic location allows to enjoy a suggestive view overlooking the Plain of Sibari, from the Jonic Sea to the Sila Mountains.
The “masseria” (farmhouse), plunged into the green vegetation of the typical Maquis and the age-old clive trees, s made up the old dwelling house of the farmer, the stable and the sheepfold. These buildings have been recently restored and preserve their rural peculiarities and the original materials, stone and wood. Six rooms with bathroom and a refreshment room have been obtained. Here is possible to try the traditional tastes of the Calabrian cooking.
The territory with its old history and tradition offers many distractions to the guest: the mountain and the sea. The walks along the mule-tracks, where the landscape is uncontaminated and surrounded by several caves, help to revive remote times when the region was infested with brigands, who found their refuge in these places. The adventurous climb of Raganello’s river-bed, the tour to the excavation site of Sibari and Francavilla Marittima, the relaxing thermal waters and mud of Cerchiara di Calabria, the trips on horseback into the National Park of Pollino, the visit to the Sanctuary of the Madonna of the Armi built on the rock, are all opportunities of amusement Besides, for those who are particularly fond of genuine food, here are the typical Calabrian productions of oil, preserves, honey and the cultivations of olives, figs, vegetables and various sorts of fruits, which are carried out by following the rules of biological agriculture.
