This establishment was, in an earlier incarnation, a hunting lodge providing a resting place in the woods for the old rulers of Jaipur. The Maharaja Sawai Madho Singh II ordered its construction towards the end of the 18th century. As guests may guess from the name of the hotel, the building in which the hotel is housed is a centuries old palace, painted with the lime based red dye typical of the region. Nowadays this hotel offers guests air conditioning, a hotel safe, a currency exchange facility, lift access and a hairdresser.
