The Lemon Tree was origianlly designed by a local Wrexham architect, James Reynolds Gummow, built as a private residence in 1865 and named “Abbotsfield”. Gummow was responsible for many of the Victorian villas in the area. At some stage it became the Denbighshire and Clwyd Area Education Office. During the war years, one wing was given over to “The Abbotsfield Priory War Nursery”. Our central location makes it easy for business in the town and for exploring the local sights. Nearby Llangollen, which is world famous for its Eisteddfod, also holds jazz and food festivals. Chirk and Holt each has a castle to explore while Offa’s Dyke is of notable historic importance. Chester is in easy reach for sightseeing, shopping and the Races, which are also held even closer to hand at Bangor-on-Dee.
