Oldfield House is a former Victorian Gentleman’s residence that now offers high quality bed & breakfast accommodation in Windermere in a quiet residential area away from the busy main road yet is still within easy walking distance of Lake Windermere. Our House is the ideal location for your short break in the English Lake District, whether you are walking in the Mountains, exploring the world of Beatrix Potter or taking in all the other events and attractions the area has to offer.
Our location allows a for very quiet night’s sleep, so if its relaxation you are after, then our house is place for you.
Breakfast
Our breakfast menu reflects our commitment to using fresh locally sourced produce that is cooked to order so it arrives at your table giving you the best flavours to tickle your taste buds.
We aim to tempt you with a full English breakfast that uses award winning Cumberland sausages, locally cured bacon, and free-range eggs. For those with a lighter pallet, we offer smoked salmon with scrambled egg on a muffin, croissants, cereals, fruit, yoghurt and a range of teas and coffee. From time to time during the year we also have on our menu Quails eggs with treacle bacon & baby tomatoes, and a continental style meat and cheese platter.
We can cater for vegetarians and by prior arrangement, those with special diets. There is a children’s menu for children between the ages of 3 & 12 when sharing with their parents in the family room.
If you are visiting the Lakes to tackle many of the walks in the area, then we can, by prior arrangement, prepare you a packed lunch.
Accommodation
All of our rooms are appointed with many creature comforts with high quality bed linen, TV, beverage tray, hairdryer, radio alarm clock and all the bathrooms benefit from the latest shower technology, luxurious Egyptian cotton towels and complimentary toiletries. They are all regularly decorated and refurbished to keep them fresh, vibrant and comfortable for your stay.
We have two premier double rooms on the sunny front side of the house one with a king-size bed the other a 4 poster. We have two double rooms on the second floor one with a shower the other with a bath.
Our flexible family room can accommodate a family of 2 adults and 2 children and can also be used as an adult triple, double or twin bedded room.
We have one twin bedded room and for the single travellers we have 2 single bedded rooms.
The rooms are arranged over the first and second floors.
We are unable to provide any ground floor accommodation
Our guests’ lounge has local information, a varied selection of books and guides to the extensive attractions available in the Lake District, which will help you decide on what to do during your stay.

For special occasions why not take advantage of having a flower arrangement and a box of hand made chocolates in your room?
We can also provide packed lunches and flask fills.
We have off road parking and give you a fully NON-SMOKING environment in which to enjoy your stay.
Local Restaurants
For evening meals we have sampled the menus in many of the local restaurants and can advise you on the best places to eat to suit your personal taste & budget.
Breakfast is included. There are many good eateries in the area to suit all tastes and budgets.
