Wick House is a charming old family house in a picturesque West Somerset village. Situated in an area of outstanding beauty, Stogumber nestles between the Quantock and Brendon Hills on the edge of Exmoor National Park. Come and enjoy the beauty of Somerset for that relaxing break. Wick House is a listed family home, dating back in parts to the Tudor period (roughly 1540). A warm welcome awaits you from your hosts Sheila and Philip. We offer a friendly, informal atmosphere and a high standard of accommodation. Children of all ages are welcome. All our bedrooms are ensuite, with television and tea/coffee making facilities. Disabled accommodation is also available with wheelchair access from carpark to bedroom. A full English breakfast, cooked in the Aga, is served in the dining room overlooking the delightful cottage garden. Evening meals are served by prior arrangement. All food is home cooked by Sheila, using fresh local produce wherever possible. Guests are welcome to use the comfortable drawing room where you will find games, plenty of books, maps and local information to browse through. There is also a smaller television lounge. The pretty walled garden to the rear of the house has ample seating. During the summer, drinks can be taken into the garden and on the veranda. Please note, all rooms and public spaces inside Wick House are strictly non-smoking. The area is perfect for escaping the stress of the modern world. Stogumber is surrounded by footpaths through the local countryside, and only minutes away from the Quantock Hills, designated an area of outstanding natural beauty, and Exmoor National Parks, where the landscape is rich in wildlife including herds or red deer and the famous Exmoor ponies. Buzzards soar overhead whilst foxes and badgers are frequently seen. | |
