A don't miss is the daily kite feeding at the Gigrin Red Kite Centre. Outdoor activities are in abundance - walking amongst scenic hills, along the Wye Valley Walk and around the Elan Valley Lakes, bird watching and fishing on the River Wye. The Gilfach Nature Reserve is only 4 miles north of Rhayader and has 200 acres of dramatic countryside with a tumbling river, otters, polecats and a restored Welsh Longhouse. Cycle along miles of bridleways and quiet lanes and the Elan Valley Trail is a spectacular trail for mountain bikes. The road through the Elan Valley, with views of the dams, connects with the spectacular old mountain road to Aberystwyth and the beautiful coastline of Cardigan Bay, a truly breathtaking drive and not to be missed.
