General Description

Two Bridges Hotel Princetown Princetown DartmoorThe Two Bridges Hotel is nestled beside the West Dart river in 60 acres of private grounds at the very heart of the Dartmoor National Park, The hotel is reminiscent of a bygone age of opulence with the added extravagance of today's little luxuries. Built in 1794 as a coaching inn at the opening of the trans-moor turnpike, the property was originally called 'The Saracen's Head'. It only gained its present name in the early 1900s with the modern road being completed in 1931. The hotel now boasts 33 bedrooms which are elegantly furnished to the highest standards yet they retain an individuality so lacking in many more modern hotels. The comfortable lounges, with huge log fires and leather armchairs provide the ideal place to relax after a day on the moor. The Two Bridges Hotel is an ideal base from which to visit Buckland Abbey, home of Sir Francis Drake, Widecombe-in-the-Moor of 'Uncle Tom Cobley' fame, Becky Falls and Buckfast Abbey, a working Benedictine Monastery.
