At the sea front, near the harbour, is the start of the Southwest Coast Path which leads up wooded North Hill into Exmoor National Park. The West Somerset Railway, which terminates at Minehead, is a particular feature of the area with its historic steam trains travelling along twenty miles of track through the various landscapes of the coastline and the Brendon and Quantock Hills. Minehead is surrounded by the breathtaking expanses of Exmoor National Park. Beside Minehead is the Medieval village of Dunster with its ancient Yarn Market and Castle.
