Exmoor House is licensed, with a nice wine list, local beers, Somerset ciders, and so on. The house, once a tailor’s shop, has a lovely, peaceful atmosphere; many people tell us they’ve had their best night’s sleep ever here. Rooms are designed for maximum comfort, minimum fussiness: big comfy beds and thoughtful little touches that make a big difference, but no chintz or frilly curtains. Bright, fresh colours contrast well with the original wooden panelling. Some rooms have views of Dunkery Beacon, Exmoor’s highest point. In the guest sitting room, formerly the village reading room, you can relax with some tea and cake, or something stronger from the honesty bar. You'll also find plenty of books and magazines, maps and guides you can borrow to help plan your days out, plus games and jigsaws. Like the other guest rooms, the sitting room is TV-free. In winter the log fire keeps it nice and cosy, and in summer it’s great to take your drinks out on the terrace. Exmoor House makes a great base for exploring Somerset and Devon, whether on foot, by bicycle, public transport or car. Many good walks, taking you through some of Exmoor's beautiful, varied scenery, start from our door. Nearby villages include Dunster and Exford, and the coast is about 10 miles away (e.g. Minehead, Porlock Weir).
