General Description | |
The Commodore Hotel is ideally situated on the cliff tops at Southbourne adjacent to the cliff lifts and Fisherman's Walk. The spectacular views across Poole bay take in Swanage to the West and Hengistbury Head and the Isle of Wight to the East. It's location, close to the New Forest, and Bournemouth town centre, makes it an ideal base from which to explore Hampshire and Dorset. The Commodore was built in 1928 and was originally called Crawford's Tea Rooms. In the war it was used to house serving American airmen. In the early 50's an extension was added and it became Crawford's Bar and Hotel. Not long after that, it became The Commodore Hotel. Dine in the attractive Lounge Bar with panoramic sea views where great value food is available daily or simply relax and have a drink from the superb range of real ales, wines and spirits. Each of the 12 en-suite bedrooms are all non-smoking, and have been fully refurbished in Spring 2008 and are now equipped with brand-new deep pocket sprung divans. Each of the charming and comfortable rooms now features luxurious duvets and pillows, and toiletries from Gilchrist and Soames. All of the bathrooms have also been refurbished with new English fittings and power showers. | |
