Little Owl Lodge overlooks our Alpaca farm and surrounding Durham Dales countryside. The area is ideal for walking and cycling and is an excellent base to visit other parts of County Durham, or neighbouring counties of North Yorkshire, Cumbria and Northumberland. Teesdale is an unspoilt landscape of green valleys and dry stone walls, grouse moors and fells. Our farm is situated near the edge of the North Pennines Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this area encompasses a large area in Teesdale, and part of neighbouring Weardale. We offer free transport to and from local pub or restaurant once a week if required (within 10 mile radius, if weather conditions are suitable). In the Lodge you will have access to a selection of Local Guide Books, Maps and Local Walk Details, Attraction’s Leaflets, Flora and Fauna Guides, Details of Local Pub and Restaurant Menus. We also have a selection of children’s and adult’s games, jigsaws and books available. We offer a Complimentary DVD Service (Comprehensive Library 100 titles).You are very welcome to meet our farm animals (and even help with feeding), but for your own and our animals safety we like you to organise this with us. We are situated in a rural location 1/3 of a mile from the main road with driving access along a farm track (well maintained), we are surrounded at a distance by other farms - the sights and sounds, (and sometimes smells!) of a farm should be expected. Over the past few years we have planted many trees and hedgerows to encourage wildlife, and have installed bird boxes to encourage nesting birds.
