General Description | |
This elegant 18th century building is the former residence of the Marquis de Sade. The hotel is in a glorious setting, is very comfortable and caters for all of your gastronomic needs. Nestled at the foot of the legendary Mount Ventoux, The 'Chateau de Mazan' is situated in the charming village of Mazan, in the heart of Provence. The 'Chateau de Mazan' offers you its 25 rooms, each with a personal touch offering elegance, comfort and sophistication, spacious suites with flowered terraces, rooms with private gardens, others with steam baths or with magnificent views over the tiled roofs of the village. Each room is a journey, an initiatory experience to 'Provencale' colours. At the chateau in 1772, the Marquis organised the first theatre festival in France. In memory of this event we have created a gastronomic restaurant, 'l'Ingenue', managed by our talented chef Franck Pujol. On summer evenings we invite you onto the large terrace of the Chateau which overhangs the garden. In winter during cooler nights we propose that you eat inside in the dining room which boasts hundred-year-old mouldings, that are probably remnants of the Marquis' theatre. Our landscaped garden is at your disposal, with its 'Provencale' vegetation and incomparable scents, its rotunda where you can doze in the shade of the mulberry trees, or even its hundred-year- old olive tree. Our park is the ideal place to relax. The swimming pool, with its natural colours offers coolness and well being. Our friendly bar is very welcoming with its retro decoration. Lastly, our team is at your disposal to advise you and help you to organize excursions into the beautiful surrounding area.
