Come to the Pazo de Galegos for an authentic experience of the history and culture of northwestern Spain. You’ll have a memorable stay in this 3 star Galicia accommodation surrounded by the vineyards of the Ulla Valley, approx. 15 km/9.2 miles south of Santiago de Compostela. The Pazo de Galegos (the names translates roughly as Galician manor) was originally the residence of Antonio Lopez Ferreiro, a canon of the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela and also a writer, remembered as the father of the Galician novel. The guest house is located near the vineyards of the family-owned winery, part of the Rias Baixas (DO) wine region. Guests are welcome to stroll through the fields and the gardens, visit the winery, relax in the library, and enjoy a meal and a bottle of wine in the restaurant and bar. The Pazo de Galegos guest house is just outside the town of Vedra in the province of A Coruna (often called La Coruna in Spanish and Corunna in English). The Santiago–Ourense road, also known as N-525, follows one of the traditional Via de la Plata (the Silver Way) routes that Christian pilgrims have taken from southern and central Spain to Santiago de Compostela. The last stage of this historic pilgrimage route starts at the Santiaguino Chapel, a short walk from the guest house. Today many tourists also enjoy walking, riding, and cycling along this scenic route. Popular local attractions include the French-style Pazo de Oca gardens outside Riobo, on the south side of the Ulla River; the Cubelas Recreational Area; walks through the olive groves in Ribadulla; and the hiking trail to waterfalls along the do Pereiro River. | |
